Chapter 9

“Pusha, I know your ass didn’t buy me a damn Rolls Royce!” Britten screamed.

Running to the car, she opened the doors and checked it out. The whole interior was cream and baby blue. Her name was one the driver’s side headrest while his was on embroidered in the passenger side. Standing back, she couldn’t believe what he had done for her. He said he had a big gift for her, but she would have never thought it was that. Looking beside it, Britten saw a mini replica Rolls Royce ride-in toy car for Baby Kendrick, that they had all nicknamed KJ.

“I had to get you something for congratulating you on being a mother and also for turning a year older. It’s something light. You need something new to put in the garage at the house. “Understand this. No matter how many gifts you buy me, you can’t really buy me. I want us to have a bond past material things. Because when it’s all said and done, I would take a man that taught me something over someone that bought me something.”

That’s what Pusha loved about her. She knew what she wanted and wasn’t going to play games. They had been together for more than a year and had never had sex or spent more than a few days with each other.

I know what you thinking. How they could have been together that long without intimacy? But instead of fucking her body, he made love to her mind.

They would spend hours talking to each other about what their beliefs were and things that inspired them. A date night was a visit to the theater or museum. He loved that she was book and street smart. Every day he would send her flowers and cards with poems explaining how he felt about her. Their intimacy was partly put on hold because she had been pregnant. But now that she
